The term “emotional intelligence” has been used by many leading researchers to describe a form of social intelligence that involves the ability to monitor feelings and emotions (of yourself and others) and to use this information to guide your thoughts and actions. Extensive research on the subject has determined that those who exhibit a high degree of emotional intelligence tend to be more fulfilled and productive than others in every area of their lives: personal, professional, and family.

"Emotional Intelligence" is essentially the non-cognitive capacity to create positive outcomes in your relationships with others and with yourself

"Emotional Effectiveness" refers to specific skills, habits and attitudes—the personal and social skills that lead to superior performance. By developing or enhancing these skills, you can significantly improve your capacity for personal and professional success.

While cognitive intelligence (EQ) has traditionally been viewed as a key indicator of future personal and professional success, it is not, by itself, a very good predictor: most of us can think of many examples of individuals who are exceptionally bright and gifted, yet are also remarkably ineffective and/or unproductive. On the other hand, emotional intelligence, or emotional quotient, (EQ) has been shown to be a consistent predictor of personal and professional achievement. Today emotional intelligence is viewed in many leading organizations as a key indicator of potential job performance.

Our Emotional Intelligence Attribute Index™ is a highly validated assessment that measures emotional effectiveness in the following seven areas:

Communication Skills - measures one's ability to understand those with whom he/she is communicating so that he/she delivers their message in the most effective way.

Interpersonal Skills - measures ability to work closely and cooperate with others to achieve a common goal.

Personal Motivators - examines six potential sources of motivation for the respondent, and the potential each source has to drive him or her to action.

Self Awareness - examines how much the respondent values himself/herself and how strongly his/her internal resources influence his/her actions.

Self Management - measures one's tendency to take a close look at himself/herself, his/her own wants, abilities and needs, and tendency to act as his/her own manager.

Social Awareness - measures one's understanding of an external group's thoughts, feelings, actions, and desires, and his/her own ability to tie his/her own personal success to that of the group's.

Social Skills - measures how well one can use his/her own awareness of others and apply it toward achieving results.

Our Emotional Intelligence resources help you pinpoint the specific behaviors, skills, habits and attitudes you can develop for improved emotional effectiveness.
